On Sept. 19,2020, I reserved a car over the phone to pick up on the 21st from Tulsa International Airport around 1:00. I told the Hertz rep that I was dropping off the car the same day around 3:00 in McAlester OK. I declined the insurance policy/fees with the Hertz rep. I was told that I'd be receiving a confirmation email re the reservation. Due to not receiving the email, I called Hertz again on the 20th... 1 day prior to travel and the Hertz rep told me that my original reservation must have been "lost" and she rebooked it. I again declined the insurance. On the 21st upon arriving at the ticket counter at the airport, I was told that I had TWO reservations! I explained the above and asked that 1 of the reservations be cancelled. The attendant then asked me to read the placard on the counter to which I replied, "Okay"...& I proceeded to read them. Well, she misinterpreted my "okay" to accepting the terms and conditions of the insurance & she charged me! Repeat: I had declined the insurance over the phone! I didn't notice the $205 charge until after I swiped my card and due to the long line behind me as well as me rushing to catch my plane, I decided to take it up with Hertz after my trip. I have written Hertz twice; they've refused to make it right. I literally put 102 miles on the car and literally had it for 1 hour and 58 minutes! The initial charge given to me over the phone was $71.31 per day plus service fees/charges. Hertz will reply to this message I'm sure and proclaim that "the contract was signed at the counter". To which I reply: Read the above again. I NEVER accepted the insurance costs and the sneaky, unethical way the attendant proceeded to charge me is flat out wrong. I will never rent a car from Hertz again and I'll recommend to others that they do not as well.
I'm on with customer service and your local location in Houston TX on Louisiana St. I was called on Thursday by Your representative and canceled for my pick up on Friday that was already paid for through Orbitz. She told me that I had to call the 3rf party to get my money back. After calling Orbitz, the only refund I received was from them which was the collision coverage. I also received an refund email from Orbitz. Here a week later I haven't received anything from hertz so I called the location today and spoke with the same girl Shay that canceled me the Thursday before only to be told I had to call the billing department to process my own damn refund! Again, this is a week later and nothing was told to me about the billing department when she called and Canceled me last week. So I call billing only to be told it doesn't show canceled in the system it shows rental not picked up! Now I have to wait 10 business days for my refund. Hell no! I call the location back to inform Shay she didn't process a cancelation when she Called Me and she rudely ask well how can I help you? Than she proceeded to lie and say I called her and canceled on Friday! And that's why she couldn't process the refund! Unbelievable! So she hung up in my face. I call back she answered, I requested a manager so she puts me on hold. So I have been typing this complaint (because there are no corporate number I can call and speak with a person that care about regular people of course) and holding for this girl's manager for 21 minutes in counting. I call customer care back to give my complaint, only to be verified placed on hold and than when a manager is supposedly coming to the phone, the agent couldn't hear me... how convenient. I will be calling Back. I will continue to hold. I will post this anywhere I can so people are aware of how this company work and hopefully help prevent the next hard working person save their time and frustration and not deal with this

As a President's Circle member I had a seamless experience with my reservation. The car was in a designated reserved spot upon arrival and the gold member staff went above and beyond providing exceptional customer service. I'd like them to provide the complimentary upgrade.
They took care of me they were nice and polite i was having a small problem with my credit card she waited on me until i got the problem straight i was able to get my rental and start my day i was on vacation
On April 30, 2021, this is the worst car rental place I have ever visited in my life. The manager, Bob Villanueva, is the worst! He was very unprofessional, uncaring, and dismissive. I had reserved a van at that location and pre-paid for it for a funeral out of town. When I got there to pick up the van, the person was with other people chatting and he just told me they don't have any vehicles. So, I said ok, is there any other vehicles at a different location? No, we don't have any vehicles and return to chat with the other people. So, I ask to speak to the manager and he told me I am the manager. I had to call and book another vehicle across town with Avis. I had a different experience with Avis. Very disappointed! Let's just say I will never book with Hertz again.
After we returned our car at the Denver airport, we were told the shuttle service to the Southwest Airlines side of DIA terminal was no longer running, only the shuttle to United Airlines. We would have to walk the 1000 feet across the Denver terminal from United to Southwest check-in. .I am an octogenarian and not as healthy as I would like to be, and that walk is difficult for me. Especially when carrying the heavy luggage to the baggage check stations. Next rental, I will call the other rental companies to see how their shuttles run.
I would like to recognize, and commend the outstanding customer service at the DCA location for Hertz. The young lady named Markata was very nice, kind, knowledgeable, and considerate. Me and my daughter enjoyed her sweet, kind, and respectful services. We do appreciate Markata so much with her over and beyond great hospitality! She is a STAR! Thanks Hertz for hiring her.
I booked a car with Hertz in the middle of the rental car shortage. I booked it two months out. I ended up having to cancel it 35 days prior to my trip. I was charged $50 to cancel when I know full well they will turn around and rent that car without my discounts at twice the price. During Covid, most companies are allowing for cancellations without penalty but not Hertz! I tried to call and argue the fee but they were going to charge me 5% of my rental fee to speak to someone on the phone. Never again. Thank God for Turo.
Slow, disorganised and lack any sense of urgency or customer focus.
I've just got back from returning my car to Nashville Airport. I had nearly 3 weeks no problems. When I picked the car up, it took a hour queueing up up with only 5 people in front of me but thought with covid this was the case. I asked the question about filling up the car before I delivered it back to them and was told there is lots of places to fill up. I did not see one unless you went off the interstate which there were no signs to say so. So had to give it them back with only quarter full and they will fill it up and send me the bill. The price they charge for filling up is extortionate compared to what you pay at the pumps. A lot of people must fall into this trap and makes the Hertz company even more money. This has got to be classed as a scam giving customers false information and then have no choice but to let them fill the car up for you
We visit Hertz at the Cleveland Airport often. Every visit we have been greeted by a friendly welcoming Hertz representative. Always get in and out quickly for pick up and return. Vehicles have always been like new and ready to go.
The woman said that I couldn't put on my cologne inside the car that I rented hertz robbed me out of a extra 400 bucks of my hard earned money all because the vehicle smelled like my cologne wow hertz has the worst customer service I've ever seen I'll never ever shop with u guy ever in life hertz should hurry and go out of business because there robbing the community out of our hard earned money Baton Rouge airport u guys wrong for robbing me out my hard earned money wow
As a long-time Dollar Express member preparing for post-pandemic travel, my profile needed updates for expiring drivers license and credit card. The website rejected my work-horse credit card (I use it every day) and there was/is no way to contact a human to update it -- no Chat, no 800 number on the website (anymore, it still shows on my rental receipt); the website feedback I sent has not been answered. So after standing through a zoo of a line at Love Field on Friday, today I tried again on the website and it failed again. Then I called Dollar and on the phone I pressed the car rental option (in an attempt to get a human). After a 25 minute wait, the rental booking agent came on, listened to my problem, and graciously agreed to update my profile herself (she didn't have anyone to even hand me off to!)
So I didn't know that Hertz actually owns Dollar until I saw the Hertz van with Dollar and Thrifty logos on it on Friday at Love Field; nor about the pending bankruptcy case -- but bankruptcy is not surprising because this company seems to be reeling out of control. Once a bell-weather example of customer service, Hertz is now on-par (IMO) with fly-by-night operators -- yes, site-jabber.com does have some 4 or 5 star ratings, but all I could find of those were from before the pandemic. Almost everything I found that is recent (late 2020 or '21) has a one-star rating, with tales like mine or worse. As a Dollar Express member, I feel like a casualty. This ship will continue going down if this so-called customer service goes on.
Truly awful! Imagine arriving at a major international airport (Detroit) to be told (along with dozens of other customers) they haven’t enough cars for anyone! NEVER AGAIN! This company is awful!
